The slider crank mechanism is found in every internal combustion engine with cylinder, piston rod and crankshaft. After the cylindrical bearing, the slider crank mechanism may be the most ubiquitious mechanism in the world, with perhaps a billion of them in existence. In this model the sliding link envelopes the fixed link, whereas in model C4, the slider moves in a slot in the fixed link. (F. Moon, 2001)
