Notes: Dress consists of a solid black inner layer covered by an upper layer of floral pattern lace. Tag on the interior reads "Tailored Woman / Fifth Ave. At Fifty Seventh St. / New York". Donor Susan H. Douglas's notes identify the item as a 1952 [sic] Inaugural Ball dress; gown may have been worn by Mrs. Douglas at the 1953 Eisenhower-Nixon Inaugural Ball since she and her husband attended the function (item 2214.PA0275a is their invitation to the event).
